PRESS: Russia mulls voluntary audit of personal data operators
MOSCOW, Aug 31 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Digital Development Ministry, federal security and defense authorities are discussing an annual voluntary audit of operators of personal data, business daily Vedomosti reported on Wednesday citing sources.
The discussion involves the Federal Security Service and the Defense Ministry’s Federal Service for Technical and Export Control (FSTEC), which control and regulate the requirements for protection of such data, but the requirements fail to keep up with the current cyberthreats, a source told the daily.
The ministry wants companies to invest more actively in information security systems, this is why an annual voluntary audit is being discussed.
The audit may be done by the information security companies accredited by the government, like Positive Technologies, Kaspersky, or Group-IB.
